    Primary Service Area

The Flight Options Primary Service Area (PSA) is the contiguous United States (i.e. the lower 48 states, constituting the continental U.S.), including any point within 225 statute miles thereof (i.e. 225 miles into Canada), Northern Mexico extending to the tropic of Cancer (the 23rd parallel), Cabo San Lucas and the Bahamas.

It is important to note the distinction between international flights and flights within the Primary Service Area.

Although the PSA extends beyond the contiguous U.S., certain procedures must be adhered to when flying out of the country. This is the reasoning behind the mandatory 48-hour prior notice for traveling outside the country. Even when traveling within the PSA, special flight plans need to be reserved when entering and leaving domestic airspace.

A minimum of 48-hours notice is required for all international flights*. This includes international flights within your Primary Service Area heading to Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, and domestic flights to Hawaii and Alaska.

  • Flight Options Extended Service Area

    Extended Service Area

The Flight Options Extended Service Area (ESA) includes Bermuda*, virtually all islands in the Caribbean and the remaining areas of Mexico not included in the PSA*. A call-out time of 48-hours is required for travel within this service area.

Enjoy guaranteed access to the Extended Service Area 365 days a year without ferry fees.

  • Flights That Cross International Borders

When traveling to a foreign country or re-entering the U.S., a host of regulations not applicable to domestic trips can become factors. Ports of Entry must be used to clear customs when entering a foreign country or for flights originating in a foreign country when re-entering the U.S. The ability to fly directly into an airport in the interior of a foreign country or the U.S. will be affected by whether or not that airport is a Port of Entry, where the flight originated and other local immigration laws that govern such flights. It may be necessary to stop at an airport not on the selected flight itinerary to clear customs and comply with entry requirements.

When re-entering the U.S. from countries south of the border, U.S. Customs mandates that all aircraft clear a Designated Customs Airport before entering the country. Designated Customs Airports normally have a full-time customs staff on duty and will provide Customs services upon landing. Customs hours of operation vary from airport to airport. It may be possible that flights scheduled to land late at night, very early in the morning or on certain days of the week may have to use an alternate airport to clear Customs.

A minimum of 48-hours notice is required for all international flights*. This includes international flights within your Primary Service Area heading to Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as domestic flights to Hawaii and Alaska.
